Electrical problems after Stereo Install

I had a stereo installed in my Jeep about a year ago and now my cars electrical went dead and was told by my mechanic that the module had to be replaced and reprogrammed due to a problem with the install of the aftermarket stereo. I don't think I should have to pay the $800.00 that this is going to cost me. I can't afford it and need my car to go to work. If the stereo was installed correctly I would not be dealing with all of this.

Re: Electrical problems after Stereo Install

Hello, susanfirato,

Thanks for joining us at the Best Buy Community forums. I’m very sorry to hear about your car.

We offer a lifetime workmanship warranty on all of our car audio installs. Have you reached out to your local Best Buy store yet to speak with an Autotech about this? We should be able to take a look at your card and see if it’s something that we can help with.

You can either call that store directly, or reach out to me through a private message by using the link in my signature. If you’d like to call, you can find the phone number through our store locater. If you’d rather message me, I’d need your name, email address, and phone number in that message, along with the store location where the install was performed.

I can then reach out to that store and ask them to get in touch with you to discuss this.

Sincerely,

Kyle R|Social Media Specialist | Best Buy® Corporate

Re: Electrical problems after Stereo Install

I have had to have my car towed to the repair shop as it went completely dead. They had to order a new module and have it reprogrammed. I don't think you could have fixed that. This was all caused by the installation of the stereo. I cannot afford to pay for it and should not be responsible for the error on the part of Best Buy.

Re: Electrical problems after Stereo Install

Hi again, susanfirato,

We’d still need to have you reach out to your local Best Buy in order to request any kind of damage claim in a situation like this.

As I mentioned previously, you can either call the store directly, or reach out to me with the information I requested.

Sincerely,
