Damaged tile floor during refrigerator delivery

In the past few months, I have purchased a computer, printer, camera, range and refrigerator from Best Buy.  I had a refrigerator delivered to my home on Thursday June 21 around 5:30.  I had been housesitting for someone and only came home for the delivery before going back to where I had been housesitting.  When I returned home on Saturday the 23rd I saw that a floor tile had been damaged (broken) near the entry to my kitchen.  When the refrigerator was delivered I had my blinds closed and not many lights on in the house so I did not see that the tile had been damaged at that time.  I contacted Best Buy on the 23rd in the afternoon and they said that I would be contacted within 48 hrs. to set up an appt. for someone to come out to check the damage.  I was not contacted by anyone so after 3 days I called Best Buy again.  They said that they could not do anything and I just needed to wait to be contacted.  It is now Saturday the 30th and I am still waiting to be contacted.  The damage to the one tile has created further damage to grout around some of the other tiles near my kitchen and laundry room.  I am having a hard time getting in and out of the kitchen and laundry room without creating more damage to the grout and tile.  Also, afraid of tripping and falling.  I have read the problems other customers have been having getting damage caused during deliveries repaired. I am contacting you now rather than continuing to wait weeks or possibly months to get this resolved.

Welcome to our forums, although I wish your visit were under more fortunate circumstances.  Whenever our customers elect to purchase their appliances with us, we’re hopeful they’ll have a positive experience with their appliance delivery.  Hearing you’ve discovered damage to your home after the delivery of your refrigerator is truly disappointing, and I apologize for the frustration this discovery has undoubtedly caused.

 

Going forward, I would recommend contacting Sedgwick Claims Management Services, Inc., as they are the insurance company that underwrites Best Buy claims for property damage that may occur during home deliveries or installations.  If you haven’t done so yet, I would recommend creating a claim with Sedgwick by phone at 1-800-620-7409, to begin the claim process.

Please send me the correct 800 # for Sedgwick Insurance so I can start my claim.  The number you gave me was for Best Buy Disability Claims??

As I mentioned in response to your private message you sent me last week, 1-800-620-7409 is the correct number to get in touch with Sedgwick, and begin the claim process.  Having called the number shortly after your message last week, I understanding choosing “option 1” after hearing their opening message should get you to the appropriate team to begin the claim process. I also confirmed this with the representative who answered my call.
