Damage claim assigned to Sedgwick


On January 25th I had a dishwasher installed by your company. The installers damaged my countertop. This whole situation has been awful. First I received a call from a New York City moving company that did the installation requesting photos be texted to a cell number. I never heard back from them after numerous tries to contact. Then my claim was taken over by Tarik Maxey at Sedgwick. He asked for numerous pictures. Then called me to say my claim was again denied when I was never informed it was denied in the first place. He was very rude and raised his voice; very unprofessional. He then told me that he had a photo of the damage already there before the installation. The way he spoke to me was offensive. He was implying that he “caught” me in a lie. Very condescending!! In the picture there are black grease marks all over the handle of my old dishwasher which only proves that the installers were handling it and made the gouge in my counter when trying to remove it as the gouge is located right above the clip that needs to be removed. To make matters worse, when Tarik called me and asked if I had a few minutes to talk I told him that I was actually getting ready to go into a medical procedure and it wasn’t a good time. He proceeded to tell me “well if you don’t talk to me now then I’ll have to call back and leave a message on your voicemail”. I guess he couldn’t be bothered asking when a better time to talk would be. Also when he first emailed me he said he would be reaching out with a phone call to discuss my claim. He called while I was at work and then immediately sent an email saying “I was unable to reach you by phone”. I wasn’t even given any time to return his call. I have never been treated so poorly by a so called professional. This experience was beyond awful. The whole thing was shady from the start with the weird contact from the installation company all the way to Tarik. I am an educator who is dealing with a lot during a pandemic, and am far from an immoral or dishonest person. It is disgusting that they denied my claim and called me a liar.

While I do wish that your joining were under different circumstances, I appreciate you taking the time to reach out to bring this to our attention as this is a far cry from the experience we'd want any of our members to go through.
