Costly Installation Misinformation

On 1/18/21 we purchased a refrigerator (in store) in Chicago and was scheduled to be installed on 1/21/21. The installers arrived to remove the old refrigerator and informed us that in order to install the new refrig we would need to replace our existing water line including an additional water shut off valve. The existing line was not in disrepair.

As we are located in a high rise condo, I informed the building engineer and he spoke to the installer. Best Buy had delivered numerous refrigerators in the building and a new water line was never required. The installer maintained that he would not be able to disconnect the old product nor reconnect the new product without a new water line and additional valve. 

The plumbing work was completed a few days later at a cost of $366. The plumber also challenged the request by the installer, indicating that the request was not a Chicago city code. It seemed the information by the installer was erroneous.

On 1/27/21, the purchased refrigerator was re-delivered and installed successfully. These installers were confused as the request for a new water line needed by the previous installer, but the 2nd installation was successful.

   We are disappointed with the conflicting information that cost us an additional $366 unnecessarily. We are asking for a remibursement for the worked performed by the plumber.Receipts available. If there is an alternative to that resolution please let me know.
