Blue flashing on light on remote start antenna when running or driving

I just had a Compustar two-way remote starter (CS4905S-KIT) installed on a 2009 Ford Fusion.

When the car is running in park or driving I get a blue flashing light on the antenna. Is this correct?

It doesn't flash when the car is off.

Also, when I remote state the car, it unlocks the doors, starts the car, then relocks the doors. Is that normal?

Hi, mrviper100,

Welcome to the Best Buy Community forums. Thanks for reaching out. This is actually a great place to discus your recent install, as we want to make sure that the work was done right. Just so you know, I went ahead and removed that other copy of this post.

Can you please send along a private message through the link in my signature with your name, email address, phone number, and the store location where the install took place? That will help me research this for you.

Sincerely,

Re: Blue flashing on light on remote start antenna when running or driving

Good afternoon, mrviper100,

Thanks for the message, though I wish this were a happier update. John isn’t currently available, so I’ve taken the liberty of stepping in and sending a follow-up to your local store’s leadership about this. Once I hear back, I’ll be sure to touch base with you here. Thank you very much for your patience!

Kind regards,

Re: Blue flashing on light on remote start antenna when running or driving

[ Edited ]

Good morning, mrviper100,

I received an email back from Matt, the Auto Tech who originally worked on your car. His message, with your name modified for your privacy, reads as follows:

The flashing blue light is normal, its just showing that there is communication going back and forth between the two way remote, anticipating a command. When the car is off there is no power to the RS so the antenna "sleeps" waiting to receive a command from the two way. Completely unchangeable, as it is programmed in the software of the RS.

In regards to the locking before and locking after, I set that up as a security measure to make sure the vehicle is always in a secure state e.g Locked.
The unlocking before the remote start is to trigger the remote start to disarm any alarm, otherwise the cars comupters would see the car starting, but the data being sent from the doors would have remained the same, so the car would trigger an alarm, or if no alarm equipped, it would trigger relays inside of the vehicle acting as an alarm, and potentially draining the battery, or if you have an alarm.... setting it off. So yes completely normal.

After the RS shuts down after 30 mins, if the car was unlocked I also set it up to lock again as to secure the vehicle.

If there is anymore question [mrviper100], please feel free to swing by the store so I can demonstrate the remote start so you are comfortable with what is happening to your vehicle.

Regards.

Matt

I’m glad that Matt has been able to provide answers for you. If you have other questions, as he says in his message to you, he would be more than glad to speak with you in person at the Bloomingdale store. Let me know if there is anything else I can help with here.

Kind regards,
