I purchased a laptop for my daughter last December (HP sleekbook touchscreen). As she was working on it last week the "e" key popped out. I cannot get it to go back in... Can a single key be replaced? If so, does anyone know how much it costs?

It can be re-attached assuming no plastic is broken and all pieces are accounted for. Most likely scissor-switch keyboard, and there are several different types of scissor-switches. You may be able to find a local shop that can pop the key back on for a small fee. However, the mechanisms are pretty fragile, so whatever popped off the keycap likely damaged the switch, as well.
If the key is broken, your only option will be to have the keyboard replaced. To maintain the manufacturer warranty, you'd need to have it done at an authorized service center. You are probably looking at about $150, ($50 in parts and $100 in labor) would be my guess.

Hi slp-
Of all the keys to go, you really can’t live without the “e” key on any keyboard!
I’m not a technician or anything, but in general I would agree with hydrogen’s diagnosis. Please keep in mind that you can also bring the laptop to Best Buy as well. We may be able to help in store with putting the key back in, or if necessary, send it off to our repair center for an estimate on a repair for you. Please keep in mind that there generally is a fee to have it sent off for that diagnostic, but the store can give you more details if it is needed.
Thanks!

What happens if you hold down the Alt key and type "69" then release the Alt key?

My "a" key on my Microsoft Windows 10 Home just broke. I can put it back in but if I press any of the corners it pops out again. Is there a possible fix to this? It's getting annoying when the key pops out.
