If your husband primarily uses his computer for games, I would strongly recommend purchasing a widescreen monitor. Many game types – specifically role-playing games and first-person shooters – will support widescreen display formats, allowing gamers to see on-screen details that would be otherwise lost when viewed using a more traditional “square” view. Keep in mind though that while most major retailers (including Best Buy®) will predominantly offer widescreen models, you’ll still want to double-check product specs to make sure that you don’t mistakenly buy a square display.
The next factor you may want to consider unfortunately requires a bit of research on your part. Depending on what resolution your husband typically runs games in (1280 by 1024 pixels, 1920 by 1080 pixels, etc.) you’ll need to make sure that whatever model you decide upon is able to support that resolution. Obviously, the higher the maximum resolution, the more expensive a monitor may become. If he already knows that you’re planning on purchasing him a monitor as a gift, you may simply want to ask him what resolution he normally uses – this should give you a good idea of what to look for.
Hope this helps you out!
