You left out the model of your tower, so we cant help you much without that.
Also, what do you mean by the tower cant handle the monitor? Thats the strangest thing I ever heard. Do you mean its not going into the maximum allowed resolution that they desire?
The Intel 82845g was really meant for home/office use and by no means heavy applications from the likes of Adobe, Corel, etc.
What you most likely need is a graphics card upgrade. But without the model and make of computer , we cannot give you much advice

i dont think it has anything to do with tower. he bought a new 22" samsung monitor and the screen looks stretched. he was talking to a pc wiz neighbor of his and he told him the video card needed to be upgraded to handle the larger monitor. he called me to ask me if i could tell him what he needed to get. i told him without knowing what he had in there for a mobo and processor i couldn't tell him much but if he could tell me what he had for a video card now we could probably figure out what would work in the pc. he isn't looking for performance really because he doesnt use the pc but for general bookwork, he just wants his viewing area to look right.
i did a search on the intel 82845g to see if i could find out what kind of connection it was but could not find any specs. can you help me now, or do you still need more info?

Again, if you do not tell me the model number of your computer tower, I cannot give much help. I realize you do not know too much about computers, but this is usually on the sticker of a tower, or on the back of the tower.
It will say something like Gateway P 123445 FX (Example not indicative of your tower)

I think that tower has a 300 Watt power supply.
Best to go with this for now:
Its similar.
The card you mention requires a 400 watt power supply which power supplies can be upgraded, but I dont know which would fit your specific power supply.

I think that is the wrong model number, the model is normally listed on the front, somewhere, on a sticker, if the computer still has them.
The video card just might not have the power to output to a larger screen, just like my older computer could not handle the 24" I am using now.
