battery pack is not recognized by HP laptop

I purchased an insignia external battery pack (item:NS-PWLB80) to use with my brand new HP laptop. 

The laptop has USB-C port but when I connect the battery pack to the computer, the battery pack is draining the remaining battery from the laptop rather than charging the laptop.

I just bought the laptop (a week ago) and when I tested the USB-C port on my laptop it is able to recognize device it is plugged in so I am at loss as to how to solve the problem. 

pleaes help.

It's always exciting to purchase a new laptop, and a portable charger for that laptop is an excellent accessory to go right alone with it.

 

Generally speaking, the NS-PWLB80 is quite automatic so it's strange to hear this isn't working properly! Let's get more details around this. When you connect the NS-PWLB80 and the laptop, which lights are on on the NS-PWLB80?

So after couple of hours of research, I learned that USB C port on HP laptops are strictly for data transfer only and cannot be used for charging. I ordered an USBC / 4.5x3mm blue charger tip adopter from Amazon. I looked for the adapter cable on Best Buy website but didn’t find any. I think Best Buy will benefit from having this product on had as well as update the product insert for the insignia battery charger to let the consumers know that some USBC ports are for data transfer only and they might have to purchase an adapter for laptops.
