Thunderbolt cable to purchase

I have an IMAC early 2009 and an IMAC mid 2011.  What thunderbolt cables do I need to connect the two?

Re: Thunderbolt cable to purchase

The 2009 will not support thunderbolt. If you’re looking to do migration assistant or target disk mode, you’ll want to use a FireWire 800 cable. They are getting harder to find, but are still out there. This would be the fastest connection method between the two computer.

If you’re looking to connect them for some other reason, it may still be the same cable but if you’d like to give a few details we could make sure it is.
