I bought the laptop at Best Buy 4 months ago for about $700. I have barely used it. It was sitting in its case. Opened it one day and found a scratch of about 4 cm on the screen. The laptop was never dropped. No pressure has been applied on it. The broken screen makes the laptop almost unusable. HP is asking $350 ( half of the cost of the laptop) for the screen replacement.
Several people reported the same problem on this laptop. But HP is too greedy to fix this known issue.
No More HP laptop for me.

I had the same problem with mine. After only TWO weeks of owning the laptop and giving it more than gentle care, I found a small crack in my laptop screen. I did not drop the laptop or treat it roughly at all. After some time, the crack has spread across the entire screen. Currently, I am also having problems with my LCD (Which is completely unrelated to the crack). When I call HP's support center and they offered to repair it for 400$ plus tax, for a problem many other people are having with their screens. If HP wants to keep me as a customer, they need to improve their quality control and customer service.

I paid $650 for the laptop
Repair is worth $400
Just for perspective.
