Sound Problem when gaming

Greetings all,

I have been having an odd problem for some time now, and nothing I try has helped.

When playing COD MW (only game I've played in some time, so maybe other games too), the game volume is louder if I have another window open on top of the game, then as soon as I go back to full screen game, the volume seems to get limited and even at 100% on volume mixer and on all in game settings, the game is very difficult to hear.

I have tried playing with the sound settings, including the "do nothing" when windows detects communications activity, which was a common issue, but this seems to be unrelated.

Pertinent PC details:

Asus x570 MB with Dolby digital sound

Logitec G533 headset

Doesn't that headset use a USB adapter for the wireless? The ones with USB adapters literally replace the motherboards sound chip with the USB one. I would start with checking for drivers for the headset

nckhammond may be on to something with checking through the drivers for your headset. You may also want to uninstall and reinstall Logitech's LGS software, too. Here are some recommended steps to do both:

  • Disconnect the headset
  • Uninstall LGS
  • Delete Logitech folder from AppData
  • Uninstall any Logitech devices in Device Manager
  • Restart computer
  • Reconnect headset
  • Download only the most recent drivers for the headset directly from Logitech's website
  • Disconnect the headset
  • Download the latest version of LGS
  • Restart computer
  • Reconnect headset, launch software per normal
