Repairing damaged/corrupted WAV files with a Chromebook.

Hello. I am looking for a solution to repair a WAV file from a digital voice recorder that I can use on my Chromebook device. I have found several programs online, such as VLC Media Player, but all of these require the Mac OS or Windows platforms.

thank you for your help.

Re: Repairing damaged/corrupted WAV files with a Chromebook.

Good morning!

Thank you so much for messaging over about this. I hope you're having a great start to your Friday. When you mention that you need a solution to repair the WAV file, do you mean that it's corrupted? Or is it in a format that needs a specific program? Personally, I always have VLC Media Player installed as it can playback most forms of media. But, you are correct with it not working on a Chromebook. It's a minor downside, but I can imagine the frustration with that.

If you haven't found a solution at this point, I can search for a way that you can play that back. Otherwise, the next best bet would be to copy it onto a flash drive and then play it on a family or friend's Windows/Mac computer. Please let me know and then we can check it out.

Thanks so much!

Actually VideoLan, the developer of VLC has an official port for Chromebook. Due to terms and conditions I cannnot post the link to it but its in the Chrome OS Web Store from what I saw.

I just did some more research. Since you are on a Chromebook, you have access to Google Drive. From my understanding if you upload video or audio files to your personal drive, you can access them from in browser. Have you tried this as well?

These are both fantastic ideas! Either should work just fine, depending on what the end goal is. Please let us know if you give them a shot and if you run into any problems.

Thank you so much, hockeycanuck!
