Most certainly.
I have a Nook, and iPad and an Android phone.
You load the Nook or Kindle app onto your tablet and you can read any format. There is no reason to have to stick to one reader. I typically buy eBooks from whoever is selling it cheaper.
The only issue I have is my iPad is about 6 or 7 years old an I cannot purchase new material from it. The iOS is to old and cannot pass muster on the encryption.
I actually don't even use my Nook anymore. I also had a Samsung Tablet that had both readers on it and I could see every book
