Hello,
I have built a new PC this weekend. The PC powers up (fans spin, lights on MOBO light up, lights on GPU, etc.). However, there has never been a video signal from it.
I'm stuck here, what do I do?
I've run out of ideas to try w/o having spare parts to flip out, and without having testing equipment. I'm wondering how much it would cost to have the Geek Squad troubleshoot this and if they would go so far is to swap out any bad parts that I just bought from Best Buy for free (if I indeed do have a bad part which I suspect)?
Things I've tried:
1) pulled out everything and rebuilt from scratch again, very carefully looking at all the manuals to make sure I've haven't done anything wrong
2) The fractacl 5 case I'm using actually had the standoff holes marked (ATX or not...), putting a standoff in the wrong place was not an issue.
3) I have pulled the memory, rotated it, and tried booting with 1 stick in then 1 or 2 slot
4) I have cleared CMOS twice by jumping it's clear jumper (with the PSU off and the power cord disconnected and I did leave the jumper there for 30 minutes while doing other things just to make sure).
5) I have tried both the GPU video and the motherboard video and also removed the GPU completely to try the onboard HDMI output with no GPU installed (also, this is an i7-9700 that should have built in video).
6) I have verified (and re-done twice) all power connections. Both the ATX connector and both supplemental CPU headers are connected solid.
7) I have tested with 3 monitors and one of those monitors is a brand new 2020 MSI gaming monitor (I had seen some motherboard related posts about a similar issue where an older monitor was the only issue when a monitor never got a video signal from a new PC).
8) I was trying this with bare minimums (No GPU, nothing at all extra connected except I never removed the 1TB M.2 from under the M.2 shroud).
9) I've tried every thing else I can think of and if looked through a lot of advice on what to do when a brand new PC powers but never providees a video signal. This MOBO didn't seem to come with a piazo buzzer or anything past 3 little indicator lights on the board. Really would have loved to have been able to see the post code number it's on.

Hi there, Reno88,
Thanks for taking the time to connect with us about this! I remember my first build, so nervous to see if it was going to boot right away! We're sorry to hear that you've had some issues, but we're glad to hear that you've tried some great troubleshooting steps.
Our Geek Squad Agents should be able to help identify the issue you're facing. That said, we wouldn't want to make any estimates on pricing, as the issue will help determine that. To have one of our Geek Squad Agents take a look at your PC, please schedule an appointment.
In regards to parts potentially being swapped out, that would fall under our Return & Exchange Promise. So long as you are within your product-specific Return & Exchange Promise, and all other aspects are met, we would generally be glad to help process an exchange. This is something your local Best Buy store should be glad to assist with as applicable.

Thanks. A Core i7-9700K is an LGA1151 and so is the motherboard. I've never heard of it being more complicated (as far as if the CPU should work with the Motherboard). Looing it up, any 9th Gen is an LGA1151 based CPU. Maybe part picker was wrong, or I'm missing something there?

Thanks, I ended up taking it in to Geek Squad. I didn't have anything like a ram tester or another system where I could flip parts around and rule out the CPU/memory at least.
I picked up the CPU, Motherboard, Ram, Video Card and 1TB M.22 stick on May 28, & 29 2020. When I dropped it off on Sunday, that was only 4 days after I picked up the parts. At least I know now that any bad parts will be exchanged and my only fear is that it was just me doing something stupid. The only critical part that did not come from Best Buy (Case/Cooler aside) was the PSU.
Thanks!
