I purchased an "excellent condition" open box iPad Air 4th Gen. The iPad itself looks good and I love it. However, the charge cable I received inside the box is not intended for charging iPad. It is a USB C to lightning port one intended for charging iPhone. Since I don't have a USB C to USB C charge cable, I can't charge the iPad. I guess the previous buyer took advantage of the return or just mistakenly swapped the charge cable. In this case, I chatted with the customer rep but was told to get help from my local store. Then I called my local store about this issue, they said they currently don't have an open box iPad to make an exchange. I need the iPad and don't want to return it. Is there a way to get partial refund or store credit for missing parts of an "excellent condition" open box item? I found similar situation on a mini fridge in the forum which was solved in a satisfactory way. I hope someone can help solve my issue as well. Thank you.

USB C to Lightning should work on all devices. I have a Halo Battery charger which supports charging through USB C to Lightning. On my iPhone XR it supports fast charging. On my iPod Touch 7th Gen the same cable works but does not support the fast charging. So if you have an AC adapter that has a USB Type C port you should be good to go.

Hi, allegrojyosou,
Welcome back to our Best Buy Community Forums.
The benefit of purchasing an open-box product is the reduction in price which is based according to the products condition. Therefore, I can understand reaching out to the community for an iPad purchased in "Excellent" condition". Products labelled in "Excellent Certified" or "Excellent" condition typically come in it's original box (or suitable replacement), and includes the original parts and accessories (or a suitable replacement). More information on open-box product conditions can be found here.
As mentioned by our Community Veteran, hockeycanuckjc, though a USB-C to Lightening cable may be compatible, a USB-C Power Adapter or port would be needed as well. If the an adapter is needed because it was not included with your purchase, please send a private message that includes your full name, phone number, email address, and purchase information so that may look into what options are available.
Sincerely,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, the USB C to lightning works with iPhones and iPods but not the iPad Air 4th Gen I bought. Both the port on my iPad and the AC adapter requires USB C to connect, which means I need a USB C to USB C cable to charge my iPad.
