NS-P16AT08 Update Question

Just wandering if there is an Android update from 5.0.1 to 5.1.1 that has been released. There’s an app from the Google play store I would like to download on this tablet but it says not compatible with this version of Android. When I go to update it just says "no update available". If there isn't an update yet is there any timeframe or if there will even be one?

Re: NS-P16AT08 Update Question

Hello CarGuy7a,

Welcome to Community@ Insignia™!

There has not been an update for that model yet, and I do not currently have any additional information on if/when an update will be available. When an update is avaialble the tablet should prompt you to update.

Regards,
Ryan

Re: NS-P16AT08 Update Question

When will there be an ETA for the update. There is nothing but issues with the current setup,  and all customers are being told is take it back to Best Buy. This is POOR customer service when many people are having the same issue that an update would take care of. Makes me never want to buy another Insignia product.

Re: NS-P16AT08 Update Question

Seems to be a dead end product. I know I've learned my lesson. Tell all your friends...  never buy an Insignia Android product. It's not supported.

I certainly regret my purchase.

Re: NS-P16AT08 Update Question

I have to Echo those remarks. I am very Sorry that I ever bought this table. Customer support sucks, as all they tell you to do is take it to Geek Squad. Everyone is having the same issues. I have better luck with my RCA tablet!

Re: NS-P16AT08 Update Question

i just purchased this tablet back in April 2016. Had the same issue about updates and called Insignia. They told me to bring it back to bb as I had a wifi issue. Replaced it and still doesn't update. I get the message to check the network connection. According to Insignia that is a false message. After looking at all the posts I am just wondering why it is taking almost a year to fix this. I truly like the tablet, but I would like to see updates available. It will get to a point when you can not download updates to your apps because the os version is not compatable

Re: NS-P16AT08 Update Question

This is normal business practice for cheap products of all manufactuers of all things regardles of what the product is. If we as  consumers were allowed to continue to update old and cheap hardware, the companies putting out these products wouldn't make any money. SO we're forced to buy new products with newer versions of Android each time one of the cheapies becomes obsolete, which will happen inevitably.  Doesn't make it right, just truth.

Mine is still on 5.0.1... that's 3 MAIN versions and multiple revisions I cannot even count behind what's available.

There is NO WAY to ever upgrade this tablet unless Insignia comes out with the latest 8.x.x android that came out clear back in August of this year. Isn't gonna happen, they want you go buy their new tablets. I guarantee there is no one at Insignia that can prove me wrong. if so, please give me the link to explanation of how to update this tablet to the latesf version of android from theone I'm stuck on from like 5-6 years ago... thanks.

Besides. $75 for a couple years of use... come on now don't be ridiculous.

Re: NS-P16AT08 Update Question

I've had 3 of these tablets, and never again. Wifi drops all the time for no reason, then comes right back. Next time, pay more, but get a quality product.

Re: NS-P16AT08 Update Question

The decision to update the OS of an Android device hinges (in part) on the processor.

The NS-P16AT08 has a Media Tek MTK8127B, which is described as a lower end processor. My Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2012) was an expensive device that got one OS update and a few patches when Samsung ended OS updates at Jellybean. My old Samsung Galaxy S4 went up to Lollipop 5.0.1 when Samsung pulled the plug.
