Monitor Sound Help

I originally bought a 19'' Samsung Monitor for my XBOX360 only. I realized there was no way I could get sound to it since there was no sound jack and it had no speakers built in. I took it back and got a 19'' Westinghouse which had speakers built in plus a sound jack. I want to play it in HDMI so I used a few cords I already had, and converted the DVI to an HDMI cord (HDMI cable -to- HDMI/DVI Converter -to- DVI cable) that ran to my XBOX, but it STILL HAS NO SOUND. Why is it? The sound on the monitor doesn't work, and the speakers won't work...does it have something to do with the HDMI because I know HDMI is video and audio. Can somebody please help me out?

Re: Monitor Sound Help

DVI to HDMI......... Well.......... The DVI to HDMI only covers the video. It cant cover the audio on the XBOX 360 because the monitor does not support operation as such. If you wanted audio and video you should get the Microsoft XBOX 360 VGA Cable.

Re: Monitor Sound Help

Yeah I found that out, I didn't know that even though there was a sound jack that sound wouldn't be supported. I ended up ordering a ViewSonic that has speakers and an HDMI already on it. Thanks for the help though.
