Insignia - USB 3.0-to-Gigabit Ethernet Adapter

At the recommendation of a salesman at Best Buy, I purchased two of these.  I was told if I connect each one to a different PC, then connect the two with an ethernet cable, I would be able to see each PC in the Windows Explorer File Tree under Network.  I see them in my firewall, but I don't see them in Explorer.

What do I need to do to see them in Explorer?

Re: Insignia - USB 3.0-to-Gigabit Ethernet Adapter

Hello, cryocynique,

Welcome to the Best Buy Forums!

It can be a little bit tricky to get the computers networked together to complete a data transfer via Ethernet. Before the other computer will show up in File Explorer, you will need to manage your network settings on both computers and manually set the IP addresses and Default Gateways for both computers. It may be a bit simpler to connect both computers to the same router.

If you need assistance with transferring data, Geek Squad does offer a data transferring services. If you would like to look into having an Agent stop into your home, please call (800) 433-5778. If you would like to drop the computers off at your local store for service, please visit our website to reserve a drop-off time.
