I know I've been here before, but I'm in search of a graphics card for my desktop. It's a PCIe mini slot for my HP 251-a123w. I have several Steam games on my desktop that I'm unable to play. I was able to get a suggestion awhile back but I forgot what the graphics card was so I never got a chance to buy it.

Hi MelissaChesmore –
I did a bit of research on your HP desktop after looking into some of the slim line graphics cards we carry and unfortunately the news isn’t good. Checking on HP’s Specifications Page for your computer it states your computer is powered by an external (laptop style) 65W power supply, which simply isn’t enough power to run your computer and a dedicated graphics card. Just for reference, most mid-range graphics cards recommend a minimum system power supply of 300W or more. Additionally looking at the motherboard specs listed on the page, because the board inside your computer is a laptop type board it doesn’t have the physical connections needed to install a dedicated graphics card.
This means if you’re looking to play those Steam games you’re going to have to get a whole new computer, as there unfortunately isn’t a way to upgrade your existing motherboard or power supply to support a dedicated graphics card. If you’d like some recommendations on mid-range desktops that should be able to play a wide variety of games and give you room to upgrade in the future feel free to let us know.
