Have a problem with the m.2 socket

I bought a prebuilt pc from best buy and right now I am trying to upgrade my storage. But when I try to put the m.2 screw back in it doesn't fit (too small). It seems as though it is missing a particular piece compared to the other wholes. Like something to make the opening smaller so that I can screw it back in. Do I need to buy that part in order to put my m.2 in?

Re: Have a problem with the m.2 socket

Hi there, Whistle,

Would you be able to provide us with more clarity around how you are mounting this M.2? It's strange to hear a screw would've been too small.

There's usually a larger standoff and then a smaller screw. Is this accurate for your M.2?

M.2 screws are not standard, its whatever the manufacturer of the board decided it should be. Best way to find out is to call the manufacturer or see if they have a service manual online
