I recommend that Best Buy makes gpu's available to everyone without a subscription. They are only helping the scalping problem by making people pay scalper prices. Most people who are going to buy the subscription are scalpers, because they are the only ones that are going to buy multiple gpus and get their moneys worth. I honestly bet they had a field day today! I've been trying to get the card for four months now. It's nice to know that I'll be waiting even more time because of greed... Best Buy was the Best place to buy msrp 30 series cards for regular people, but in the end, it'll probably be Best to Buy from an ebay scalper who is selling for only 100 above msrp. No regular customer is happy with this. Gpu stock streams are freaking out. Sorry for being really passive aggressive. I've been trying to get it for too long. it's just sad to see people still supporting scalpers, and in the end, there will probably be warehouses of scalped gpus not able to be used by anyone. That doesn't help the chip shortage.

What subscription are you referring to?
I am not an employee of Best Buy. All opinions and comments are my own.

I found an article on what you may be referring too. I was not aware of it.
There are also lots and lots of posts and suggestions that Best Buy combat Bots and scalpers.
A memberhip to get hard to find items and limiting each memberhip to 1 of each item would be pretty efficient at doing that.
I see also that these items are not available for shipping only in store pick up. I suppose that could also help combat bots.
And there have been a number of people complaining that TotalTech was not getting them anything special
On one hand I agree with you that it does not seem right. On the other hand the bigger issue to me is scalpers buying up the tech and then ramping up the price and all the people who get upset and wanted BB to do something. If people were no willing to pay them the higher price they would not be doing it.

Unfortunately requiring the $200/yr subscription is overwhelmingly harming legitimate buyers of these GPUs. The intent for many of these individuals is to purchase a single card and not interact with the subscription "benefits" in any other way - which is effectively just a $200 price increase for each of the cards.
This is even more frustrating to legitimate buyers because Bestbuy has a contract with the manufacturer (Nvidia) to be the only retailer available to sell their more reasonably-price "Founders" edition cards. Elsewhere, the cards being sold by Bestbuy are nowhere near the MSRP set by the retailer (and "Branded" versions of their cards sell for a minimum of hundreds of dollars more).
An argument could be made that requiring this subscription helps scalpers even more, as they will be more incentivised to purchase a subscription compared to a legitimate buyer as their intent is to purchase multiple cards (thereby decreasing the per-card cost of the subscription requirement). This effectively weeds out competition from individuals who just want to purchase one card for personal use.
To add on to this, TT members are only limited to one item per SKU, meaning that scalpers can still put multiple versions of these graphics cards into their cart and purchase them. It would make more sense if an individual was only able to puchase a single product within "Graphics Card" category during this "Exclusive Access Event".
Ultimately, many people in the community are understandably upset with this new $200 requirement as it not only looks like Bestbuy "cashing" in on an unfortunate situation for consumers, but will also further increase the price of these cards being scalped elsewhere.
