Forgot to wipe SSD before returning

Yesterday I returned a Samsung 970 Evo Plus drive to Best Buy. (Nothing wrong with it, just decided to go with a PCI 4.0 drive instead) Unfortunately, later that night I realized that I forgot to wipe the drive before returning it. I went back to the store today and was told that all Hard Drives are recycled, and it was already sent out. Does anyone know on the recycling process are the drives eventually resold? Are they wiped during the process? Or do I have something to worry about?

Re: Forgot to wipe SSD before returning

Hi there, ThezJim,

Thanks for taking the time to ask these excellent questions!

You should have nothing to worry about. As the nation's largest retail recycler of used electronics and appliances, we've got this process down. As per our Best Buy Recycling Standards Data Security: Recycler processes all hard drives and similar data storage devices in a way that renders all data unrecoverable.
