Express Video Cards?

After talking to a best buy employee I found out about express video cards for laptops but I still dont have enough information to sink money into it. I have asked everywhere, my local best buy store, online everywhere. Can someone please give me any information on express video cards!

Any answers are greatly appreciated!

Re: Express Video Cards?

have been trying to look for express video cards for laptops, so far not yet no luck so far. i have tried various online websites such as eb@y, @mazon, etc etc, and local retail stores, no one carries them.

i don't think such thing existed becasue express card does not carry enough speed to do graphics.

Re: Express Video Cards?

I found some here at bestbuy.com but I dont know whether the express is part of the name or if it fits in the express slot.

I jsut got done talking to a Sony Vaio rep over the phone and he told me that he's seen them for sale and they fit into the express slot.

Re: Express Video Cards?

pm me if u find one, i have been looking for them too as well.

on bestbuy.com those are PCI-Express Video Card. They are for Desktop only, they are not the same as laptop's express card video adapter.

you sure u're not looking at "express card video capture card". those are TV Tuners, not Video cards.

Re: Express Video Cards?

ok pci express is just a smaller version of the normal pci (of course less power and quality)  If you find a Video card the is PCI Express then yes it will fit into your laptop...desktops use pci Express, PCI, PCI 2.0 and some more

Re: Express Video Cards?

You will never find the componetry for laptops as readily available as componetry for desktops. Too many variables in style/design of laptop cases. There is no standard for them and they are Vendor specific. Also, this is the one niche left that Vendors still own so you will find very few Vendors out there who will even sell you anything for a laptop unless you have an arm or a leg to pay with. Most Vendors commission their componetry when they begin manufacturing a laptop and when that particular model is no longer their main line, they will no longer order the parts. Makes for a desert for replacement parts, etc. When you are buying a laptop, your best bet is to do good research before you buy and get one that will not go obsolete on you in a few months. You can find some parts here: LinkSmiley Sadhttp://www.ascendtech.us/items.asp?Cc=LTPC&Bc=&cName=Laptop+Components&mainCC=LTPC) LinkSmiley Sadhttp://www.portabledetails.com) LinkSmiley Sadhttp://laptopcomponents.net/) And some good info here: LinkSmiley Sadhttp://pcworld.about.com/od/components/Computer_Components.htm)
