Can Best Buy transfer old HDD data to another (newer) HDD?

I pulled an HDD out of an old PC that is absolutely broken, and I wanted to plug it into another PC to get the data from it, but the connector for it is so old my motherboard doesn't have a slot for it. I was wondering if I took it, along with a blank hard drive to Best Buy, if they would be able to transfer the data from it to the other one.

Is this a possibility? Any other stores that might be able to do this?

yeah, i believe id actually need a sata to ide, rather than the other way around though. i dont think that is quite as easy. however, i do believe i might be able to buy a usb to ide. all i want is that data from the drive, so i could use it externally and just throw it out when im done. is that possible?

You could purchase a USB external enclosure and use the drive an an external USB Hard Drive and that's the easiest way. Best Buy does not carry these anymore but you may be able to find one online from a third party. Due to the rules of these forums I am not able to mention any competitor to Best Buy.

Geek squad services start at $200 for data recovery and can run you over $1000 depending on the severity.

Buy a USB to IDE adapter. Plug your old hard drive into your PC USB port. Copy data to PC. Keep old hard drive as backup, or destroy it after you have copied data on to the PC.

Usually it is a USB to IDE/SATA cable. It has both connectors to USB. C2G is a good brand cable for this, but there are many brands out there. Becareful for cables with bad or no reviews. I had one fry a hard drive and start smoking, I think the power brick went bad. C2G has never failed me.
