Are defective parts really that common, or is it just that people with bad experiences are way more

Whenever I look at reviews for motherboards, a lot of the text reviews will be 1 star and talk about how it's the "worst product ever" because the part was DoA or broke relatively early in its lifecycle. Is this actually a common occurrence? I feel like 99% of people have no issues with these products, otherwise they wouldn't sell. Is there a way to look at online reviews without letting overly negative reviews like this influence your opinion?

I have had probalby had 14 or 15 computers in my life or more and not a single one of them had the motherboard go bad.

I have built two computers on my own.  Both times I went with better quality motherboards and they both worked great.

To answer your question though about reviews is not an easy solution. You have to read reviews and take them with a grain of salt.  Example, I have read reviews about a local resturant.  The person went on and on about how horrible the food was and it seems to be related to the fact that it took them 10 minutes to get seated.   I also ready a lot of reviews before buying some things.  And you just need to learn to remove the passion from the fact.

If a person used vulgar language, or say things like Worst Product Ever, without backing facts I tend to ignore them.

I take reviews with a grain of salt. Now if theres a common issue a number of them were stating, well then I would take it a little more seriously. Same with the people who give it 5 stars then say "I havent used it yet".
