I'm using the usual video cable. I don't have a receptacle for the other cable that has a plug with two sets of nine pins and one flat pin. (Sorry, I don't know the name of that one.) 19" diagonal, approx. 16" wide by 10" high. 1440 x 900 resolution.
I hope you're not going to tell me I need a special video card. The old 5+ year old PC it was connected to didn't have one.
Thanks,
Lisa

My initial suspicion was that your cable wasn't capable of supporting the resolution you were attempting to run. It sounds as though that isn't the problem, though.
I just noticed something else in your initial post that might be a clue. Could you say some more about this phrase: "the bottom bar text is a lot smaller." Smaller than what? Does the "bottom bar"refer to the task bar to which one minimizes windows? Could you give a bit more description?

Smaller than they were when this monitor was connected to the previous XP desktop. (It was 5+ years old and giving us some trouble. Hence, the replacement.) Yes, bottom task bar where the Start button is on the far left side.
I'm wondering if I need updated drivers. Even if I download new driver(s), I'm concerned about the method of installing them...
Thanks for your assistance!
