Looking at the specs for the Acer AS5735-4774 it lists "none" for networking. In CDNet's review it lists the unit as have gigabit ethernet and a RJ45 connector. Which is correct?
Thanks,
John

I just bought this laptop 12-09-2008. I love it! I have a LinkSys wireless router for my cable internet. We have a total of one desktop, two laptops, and a Wii running off this router. It works perfectly together! The wireless capability built in on this laptop works perfectly in my house, even with 3 other machines running off one signal.
As a side note, I bought mine in-store at BestBuy. They had a promotion going that I took advantage of. I got TrendMicro software and an Epson all-in-one printer for an extra $40. Already had an all-in-one printer, but I figure I can sell it or keep it. Doesn't matter. The extra cost of the two together was still cheaper than buying just the TrendMicro software.
I'm waiting a few days to enter my official review online, after some more time using the laptop to check some of the other features, but so far I love it. I haven't had any problems out of it, other than getting used to the differences between Vista and XP.I expected that, though. I am one of the "I'll wait until later to get a Vista OS" holdouts, and still didn't really want to convert. I'm glad I didn't let that keep me from getting this laptop. It's amazing for the price paid. And I love the wide screen.

I keep thinking of other things to say about this laptop.
A hassel is making your own restore disks, as this does not come with any. It took me two DVD-R disks and about 30 minutes (maybe a little longer) to make my restore disks, which the computer prompts you to do as soon as your initial startup is complete, so that you don't forget to do it. The prompts told me it would require two DVD-Rs or (I think) 12 CD-Rs to make a set of restore disks. Luckily, I still have some DVD-Rs on hand.
One reviewer stated this laptop doesn't have bluetooth, but it does.
Another reviewer stated a grey circle comes up on the mouse pointer and feezes the screen. This isn't entirely true. That grey circle is the scroll feature on the mouse pad, similar to the scroll wheel on a regular desktop mouse.
Another stated the screen zooms by itself sometimes. Also not entirely true. If you place and hold one finger on the mouse pad, then drag another finger across it, it will zoom in and out, depending on which way you drag the moving finger.
Everyone is correct in stating there is no webcam. But for $399, what do you expect?
A standard sized laptop case (from Wally world, Targus brand) barely fits this computer in it due to the wide size of it. I bought my carrying case after the fact, and it almost didn't fit. Best bet for this is to buy a case in-storewhere you can try them on the display model to see that they'll fit and still have room for AC adapter, external mouse, or whatever else you might need to put in there.
battery life isn't really great. Surfing the web and chatting, I get about 2 1/2 or 3 ours of life before my battery is getting close to needing a recharge. Could maybe get a little over 3 hours if I really pushed my luck with it.
Haven't found a spare battery yet, but to be truthful I looked for all of maybe 5 minutes. I wouldn't think they'd be hard to find. I forgot to ask about one while I was in the store. I thought about it after I got home. Looked on the internet for just a minute, then decided to look later.

Forgive me for asking but do you by any chance know if this laptop can run call of duty 4?
System Requirements for Call of Duty 4
“Required (min) Specs”
“Recommended Specs”
everything passed but the intel integrated graphics card. dont' expect u can run any games with intel integrated graphics card. this is jsut for minimum system requirements.
even if it has a nvida or ati graphics card, it still barely enough to pass the system requirements. so u'll have a crappy graphics .
