Hi there -
I have ordered Viper DS4+ remote starter + Geek squad T-harness installation for my 2017 Toyota Highlander with PTS (push-to-start, with Smart Key)
I have a couple of questionso n DS4+ :
1. I read that after remote starting using the Viper remote or the Toyota Smart key fob, the car can only be unlocked using the Viper remote. Is that correct? How about walking up to the car and unlocking using the handle (with the Smart Key in pocket)?
2. The Geek squad installation description says the installation will be done with T-harness. However, I did not see this option in the Directed website. No T-harness option is shown for 2017 Toyota Highlander. If there is no T-harness, how is the installation done?

Welcome to the Best Buy forums! Thank you for providing me with as many details as possible, and by adding your vehilce information, I was able to locate the exact installation manual for your 2017 Toyota Highlander (PTS transmission), and the DS4+. I wanted to provide you with a full list of things to expect, things to prepare for, and also a way to get the ball rolling in the right direction to get this remote start installed into your vehicle!
Your 2017 Toyota Highlander, **while remote started**, will not allow your vehicle to open without using the factory keyfob. Should you be able to use the button on the door, like you normally would with the smart key while the **vehilce is NOT remote started**, this would be an added bonus. Since your Highlander installation manual states that there is no "secure takeover" for your vehicle the car will shut down when the drivers door is opened. This should be brief with you during, before, or after the installation at the demonstration. It sounds like your Geek Squad Autotechs are on top of the ball for your car, and you should be in good hands!
With that said, you will need some additional parts for your vehicle that I wanted to provide you before your appointment, along with a list of things to do for each product.
A Geek Squad Autotech may reach out to you to make sure you have these parts in stock before your appointment, but if you're wanting to have peace of mind with the product in hand, please be sure to call the store of your choice to order any additional parts that may not be in stock at your installation date! I'm hoping this helps you out, and if I can clarify anything further, don't hesitate to let your local Autotech or I know!

Were you able to get a Compustar remote start installed into your vehicle that day, or was a refund just processed? I'd be happy to see what options exist for Compustar, if you're back to shopping! Just let me know how I can help, and I'd be happy to do so!

Thanks for the reply.
I just returned the whole Viper DS4+ package there. I'll look into the Compustar solution later.
I would suggest to anyone looking to use Geek Squad auto installation to call ahead first and make sure (a) the installer is comfortable installing the part; (b) has all the parts needed or if not, what is required to purchase.
