Valet button for Viper 4205v remote start?

I bought my Viper 4205v remote starter from Best Buy, and had Best Buy do the installation. It worked well for the first few winters, but recently, both remotes failed.

 

I bought a replacement remote, but the manual for the 4205v says that to pair it, I need to press the "valet button." I can't seem to find a valet button. I can see the receiver mounted by the mirror on my windshield, but that doesn't have any buttons on it -- just wires running into the roof. 

 

Where should I be looking for the valet button?

(I looked it up by searching for 4205v on the viper support site: https://www.viper.com/support/guides.aspx )

Page 6 shows the instructions for pairing a remote, but it doesn't say where the valet button should be located.

A couple of other models look like they have it right on the antenna (per a YouTube search), but I couldn't find anyone showing what it looks like/where it would be placed for the 4205v).

As a side note, I've actually wondered about the location before -- actually, when I was valet parking my car and wanted to enable valet mode! Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks for joining the Best Buy forums to ask us your question!  The valet button should be installed in every vehicle for every remote start installation and some are even built into the antenna on some Viper models.  Sadly the 4205 has a separate antenna and valet button, which are installed in different locations.  Without a valet button, you would be required to return to a Best Buy location to have these remotes programmed. 

 

I would recommend calling your local installation bay who performed the work to see if they happen to have mounted it in a location not seen without removal of some panels.  Another step would be to stop in to speak with an Autotech and schedule your appointment to have your remotes paired.  I'd also ask to have a valet button installed if this happened to be left out on the original installation. 

 

I'd be happy to help you if the Autotech is unable to answer any questions you may have, but I'm very confident they can handle this situation fully and to your liking.  I'm hoping you are able to get these remotes reprogrammed before the winter starts, and please don't wait until the snow starts to fall to see us!

Ugh...

 

Okay, thanks. I moved, so the installation bay that installed it is pretty far away now. Frustrating to have to schedule time out of my weekend and drive there for something that seems like it should be easily accessible.

 

If they didn't install the valet button or if they put it somewhere only they can access, will I need to pay a service fee to have the remote activated? It's in the consumer owner's manual, so I assumed it was easy to pair a remote myself.

Good Afternoon MrSage-

 

Valet buttons are now built into the antennas or the transmitters themselves.  The 4205 unit is the only brain we still carry where the remote start doesn't have this button built into the antenna. It certainly should have been installed and put into a place where it is relatively accessible.  Often times there are some panels which can be removed easily which it could be hiding behind.

 

If this button wasn't installed, you could ask the installer who is performing the work to install on for you, saying they have some laying around.  Our nationwide warranty allows you to visit any Best Buy location!  Let us know how your scheduled appointment goes and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
