Trunk Release & Rear Defrost

Bought a Compustar CS4202S kit + tilt switch + installation bundle from BB website -- will get it installed in a 2011 Civic LX sedan

LX trim doesn't come with a remote trunk release from the factory -- how much extra part+labor does BB charge to add that on?

Will the rear defroster turn on in cold weather? How much extra part+labor does that cost?

Re: Trunk Release & Rear Defrost

Hello Jatan-

I loved installing that Compustar remote start bundle when I was installing them last year!  You have some great questions which I hope to address as fully as possible!

I believe your Honda Civic will have the assembly on the floor on the left of your driver’s seat.  This would be a cable assembly which would require additional parts to install in your trunk to add the “pop” action.  This solenoid can be installed, but is not carried by any Best Buy I’ve ever worked at.  Please speak with your Autotech for the most accurate quote and parts required for this request.

As far as rear defrost goes this is a connection which is required to be hooked up at the time of installation for any options of turning this feature on remotely.  This service costs $59.99 and will appear on your receipt as “advanced security add-on.”  Hope this helps you out, and let me know if you have any other questions about your remote start!

Sincerely,

Re: Trunk Release & Rear Defrost

Thanks for the info -- the auto tech at my BB is on vacation until end of the week so the store couldn't give a quote.

Looks like I'll stick with the basic install -- rear defrost not worth that much and trunk release would complicate things + delay the install

Re: Trunk Release & Rear Defrost

Hello Again Jatan-

You're very welcome for the information!  The great thing about the options you're wanting, is that they can be added on after installation.  If you feel you're wanting these options in the slightest, let your Autotech know so he can plan for the immediate installation, but also take into consideration the possible future additions.

This is honestly not something you need to do, but for the installer to be able to know about add-ons later on down the way, they can prewire and program the brain to allow for the installation to go smoother when you decide to have them added on!  Let me know if I can help you out with anything else!

Respectfully,
