Subwoofer installation

I have a 2008 Mustang with no upgrades done to the speakers. I would like to put two 12” subwoofers in the back of the car. Would this require me to replace all speakers in the car as well?

Re: Subwoofer installation

Greetings BRM-

Sweet time of year when you’re considering driving down the road with that extra bass coming from your trunk!  I’d be happy to help you with your questions, and provide you with a little insight too for your 08 Ford Mustang.  Thanks for registering with the Best Buy forums to ask!

If I recall correctly, there is very limited space in that trunk.  Two 12” subwoofers would be possible, but you’ll likely need a custom subwoofer enclosure.  There are plenty of boxes out there from other sites, which I cannot post on here, but these boxes allow for your subwoofers to have the space required, for your very specific trunk space.

You never have to replace the audio in the vehicle when you want to add on subwoofers, but if you’re wanting to replace your speakers, our Geek Squad Autotech’s are more than capable in helping you with quoting, and scheduling too!  I’d recommend working with your local car installer to better understand what options exist for your vehicle, and please write back if I can answer any other questions!

Kindly,
