Subwoofer installation

To whom this may concern,

Hello, i have a Pontiac G5, and wondering how much installiation would be. the car is in factory condition. Also i was wondering what amp would i have to get for the Kenwood - Performance Series 12" Single-Voice-Coil 4-Ohm Subwoofer - Black. And one more thing. Would i have to get a new radio if i have the amp? and if so, what radio would you recomend for it?

Thank you in advance.

Re: Subwoofer installation

Welcome to the Best Buy Forums DeonS18-

Thank you for all the many details you put in your post, and you are in the right place to ask your questions.  Adding an amp and subwoofer is an exciting time, and it’s amazing to hear you are interested in having our MECP certified Autotechs work on your vehicle.  You are in luck also, if you do not have an amplifier, you could be eligible for some great deals on our amplifiers with installation!

My personal recommendations would be to first figure out the RMS value for the Kenwood subwoofer you have, at this time you will now be able to find an amplifier that shares the same power rating as your subwoofer, which will then lead you to what gauge of wire you will need for your amp kit.  You have a great start, but you still have some things to keep in mind.

You certainly can install amp and subs without replacing your vehicles factory radio, but you will need an additional part, and it’s installation.  Below is the breakdown of the most common parts and price ranges for your installation:

Pontiac G5

Materials Fee $5.00

Amp Install $99.99

Subwoofer Install (1) $19.99 (2) $39.99

Line output $14.99 (Factory radio integration)

Custom labor per ¼ hour $24.99 (Line output install)

Amplifier kits $79.99-$149.99 (Kicker and Truconnex)

I want to welcome you to browse around on the Car, Marine, and GPS section for other amp related posts for more assistance also.  Please call your local Best Buy, to speak with an Autotech, so you can discuss what savings may be available to you.  If you have any more questions for me, just let me know!
