Re: Viper 7111V troubleshooting

I am currently having same issue. I bought and had BestBuy (at Fair City Mall in Virginia) Geek installed it back in 2016. All of sudden, the remote stopped working correctly.

When I push the button, it tries to start the engine (cranking it up) but won't start... I searched around and doing the "valet" thing, but it does NOT solve the issue.

I hope someone share instruction how to fix the issue.

PS: I notice one thing that when I sat in the car (locked) and tried to start with the remote, I saw the "Security" light kept blinking .

Welcome to the Best Buy Forums!

I appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us. I know a remote start is very important especially during the colder months, they come in very handy.

Have you tried going through some of the troubleshoot options mentioned above? Replacing the battery, re-paring the device? If you did you may also try turning off the valet mode on the remote, ensure your car is in park before you try using the remote. Check to ensure your hood is closed properly as this and many other safety features on your car can prevent your remote start from starting.

If you can't identify any safety features on the car that could prevent the remote start from working, I would recommend speaking to a technician. You may set up an appointment to speak to one of your Autotechs in person to locate the root cause of the problem here.

Re: Viper 7111V troubleshooting

This is what I already tried:

1- Inserted key and turned to 'ON' position

2- Tapped "Valet" button once

3- Pushed and held the "valet" button - heard honking

4- Pushed the button on the remote (Viper remote) - heard honking

5- Released the "valet" button

6- Turned key to off - heard honking

7- Took key off

8- With doors, hood closed completely. tried to start with Viper remote from outside of the car.

Engine cranking up but could NOT start.

-- Tried step 8 while sitting inside the car -- same issue -- and noticed the security light still blinking while engine tried to start.

I tried to follow the link to setup appointment with tech, i can only find the option to "install remote start" which cost over $400.

Re: Viper 7111V troubleshooting

After searching around on google and youtube, I was able to find some similar guidance to fix my issue (though their setups / models are not the same).  After reprogramming the bypass module, issue is solved.  I am now able to use the remote starter, and it works like it used to.
