At the advice of the Car Tech at Best Buy (great dude), I contacted Pioneer support. This turned out to be the trick:
This should be a quick fix, follow these steps to check phone connect settings:
1.Press and hold SRC/OFF button till radio only displays clock
2.Press in the MC dial to display the [MENU]
3. Scroll MC dial to select [SYSTEM ] then press dial in.
4. Scroll to [PHONE CONNECT] the press dial
- Scroll to iPhone/iPod then click.
-Then select Wired as connection method.
Once selected press SRC/OFF button to exit system menu.
It turns out I had the iPhone/iPod set to 'Bluetooth' rather than 'Wired'. I did this as part of the setup for the ARC App setup. The phone still connects to the unit via bluetooth for the phone and "BT Audio", but everything else is through the USB with the iPhone (or iPod Nano) connected.

Good Afternoon MikeFong-
I'm sorry to hear the issues you are having were similar to that of another community member. Thank you for joining the Best Buy forums to bring this to my attention, and I appreciate the opportunity to provide some options to better assist you with this mishap!
If this Pioneer radio was installed at a Best Buy, please return to speak with the installation bay to locate a time where a warranty check could be scheduled. I'm personally not familiar with this exact model, but I would recommend the owners manual or speaking with the manufacturer if the radio was not installed by a Geek Squad Autotech.
Let me know if you have any other questions, and we do troubleshoot appointments, per every 15 min. Both the warranty or troubleshooting appointment can be scheduled by either calling or stopping in to your local Best Buy!
