I have inherited a Ford Taurus 2003 which had an aftermarket Compustar remotes car start system installed. The original owner had battery drain issues with the car for numerous years. After gaining ownership of the car I addressed this problem. Here is a list if the things I have done to rectify this parasitic drain.
- replaced the altenator - problem continues
- replaced the battery 2 times - problem continues
- replaced the starter - problem continues
- investigated the parasitic drain - only to realize the compustar 2 way antenna blue flashing light is causing the drain.
Now the remotes for the system are one-way. The antenna is a 2 way. Is this the correct setup? Is there anything that can be done to stop the constant drain of the battery? I don't drive the car everyday, sometimes not for 4 days. Any suggestions?

Hi there, Ewater,
Thank you for reaching out to us about your car. As someone who doesn't prefer to drive when I don't need to, I can only imagine how a frustrating a dead battery after a few days would be. Do you happen to know if this remote start was installed at a Best Buy? If so, we offer a lifetime workmanship warranty for all installations. If not, we do offer free consultations so an Autotech can help you take a look at this to see how we can help with this remote start.
I hope I was able to help! Please let me know if you have more questions!
