My Frame: Insignia 8" Digital Picture Frame (NS-DPF8TR)
Not sure if my solution will work for you because it sounds like you have a different model...but thought I would offer some suggestions just in case.
1. My frame has a remote with a "Rotate" button. Not sure if pressing it will force the image to always be rotating when viewed (frame is wrapped already for Christmas, so I can't test it).
2. Under the menu options, there is an option to "Zoom" under "Image Display Format". This will cause the frame to automatically zoom so that no "black" borders are visible. The problem is that you often lose most of the picture due to the zoom.
3. Last resort depending on how many images you have is to edit them in a drawing program. The typical aspect ratio for the frames is 4:3. You could add a border around your image to simulate a horizontal image or crop the image to 4:3 landscape.
Hope that helps. Merry Christmas.

Welcome to Community@Insignia™!
According to the owner's manual page 29-30, you can rotate a photo when it is displayed full screen by pressing Menu, then using the up/down arrows to select Rotate, then enter. Please note that the changes are retained only for photos store in the frames internal memory.
