Says Memory is Full with brand new memory card

Our camcorder.. It's a HD 10 Megapixel, 1080p I believe model number NS-DV111080F is brand new and we have a SD memory card in the camcorder and it's saying the memory is full, but we've never even used the camera. It says it's on memory card memory, not Internal, so I know that's not the problem. We've even deleted the memory card to be sure. But we just got it, and we know we haven't recorded anything. We REALLY need to get the problem fixed as soon as possible because our baby is due any day now and we'd really like to have it recorded (considering that's why we got the camcorder in the first place.) Thanks for your help.

Welcome to Community@Insignia™ and congratulations on your baby!

If you haven't already, try erasing the memory card.  This will have the additional effect of formatting the card for use with your camcorder (your card may be in the wrong format for the camcorder).  To do this, enter the on screen menu and navigate to the Erase Card icon, highlight it and press the center navigation button to open the Erase Card screen. Selecting the check mark icon will erase the card.  More details can be found in the owner's manual, beginning on page 19.  Let us know your results!
