sorry to just jump in on this, but if the battery won't hold a charge but for a few times and then won't charge at all, isn't it defective and shouldn't the company replace the battery?
I have read several reviews lately and it seems that this is a big problem with the Insignia. Half the people I have talked to have said they needed to replace the battery within the first month and/or the unit would just stop charging. I'm very unhappy about this as I just purchased an Insignia from a pawn shop and it held no warranty. I spent money on a charger and found that it would not charge. So am I expected to also spend money on a new battery? after all I have spent I could have purchased one new with the warranty.

Welcome to Community@Insignia™!
Unfortunately, Insignia™ is unable to offer warranty support for products not purchased as new. Even so, our warranty does not provide coverage for consummables, such as fuses or batteries. For Insignia™ customers who encounter issues within the return period of their product, we recommend an exchange through the retailer where the purchase was made. I hope this helps.
