Re: NS-DV111080F SD card

Hello Rob559,

Welcome to Community@Insignia™!

Have you tried:

  • Restoring your camcorder to factory defaults?
  • Reformatting your SDHC card using the camcorder (remember to back up your files before completing this step!)?
  • Completely removing the camcorder from power to power-cycle?

Let us know your results!  Also, if there is additional information you can provide about the issue (more is better) please reply with that also.

Re: NS-DV111080F SD card

I'm having the same problem with my Camcorder not wanting to read the SD card in order to be more memory for recording video or photos? Is there a way to switch the mode from internal to SD?

Re: NS-DV111080F SD card

Hello mp1080,

Welcome to Community@Insignia™!

When you insert a SD/SDHC memory card, videos and photos are automatically saved to the card rather than the internal memory. Have you verified that your SD/SDHC card is unlocked? Have you tried the troubleshooting steps previously provided? What were the results?

John

Re: NS-DV111080F SD card

Hello,

I'm having the same problem with a previously used model of the camera; the SDHC icon shows the card as locked and no matter how many times we try to format the card through the camera, it doesn't work.  The locked tab on the side of card is set to open (we even tried it the other way) and still no change.  The camera WILL record to internal memory.

I'm preparing to update the firmware as this may be an issue as well.  However, what do you mean by "Completely removing the camcorder from power to power-cycle"?

Thank you.

Matt

Re: NS-DV111080F SD card

Hello Matt,

Welcome to Community@Insignia™!

We always recommend keeping your firmware up-to-date, so that is a good step to take! When I said to completely remove from power, I meant make sure that the camcorder isn't plugged in to charge or to a computer. Turn the unit off, then remove the battery. Let it stand for a few seconds, then reinstall the battery.

Have you tried using a different SDHC card? Have you tried reformatting the memory card using your computer? If you haven't, try these steps and let us know your results!

John

Re: NS-DV111080F SD card

Hello

I tried using a new SD card (SDHC 4 GB) and nothing.  When I go to format the card, I get a warning beep.  This is a brand new card straight from a retailer.  The camera still reads it as locked.

Re: NS-DV111080F SD card

I just completed the firmware update and no change in behavior in the camera; the card is still locked.

Re: NS-DV111080F SD card

Hello matt_decker,

In light of the steps you have previously taken the likely possibility is that the internal component of the camera that verifies the position of the security tab on the card is stuck or broken. As such I would reccomend contacting the Geek Squad to discuss possible service options.

Re: NS-DV111080F SD card

Thanks for the confirmation on the above.  As this is used equipment when we bought it, unless it's a relatively inexpensive fix, I may relegate it to parts bin and look for another product.
