I am trying to extract the photos in my camera to my computer.I keep getting an error message that says "The computer cannot detect the scanner or camera. Please make sure the device is turned on and is properly connected to the computer."
I've had this camera for over 2 years and have never had this problem before. Has this happened to anyone here before? I'm not sure if it's something wrong with my camera (which I rarely use) or computer (PC).

When connecting your camera to the computer, do you connect it, then turn it on? This is the recommended connection procedure. Are you storing your photos on an SD card or internal memory? Have you tried connecting the SD card directly to your computer to upload the photos that way? Have you replaced the cable?
If you are still unsuccessful after trying these steps, please reply with your computer brand and model number and the version of OS you are running. Also, if you have made any updates, upgrades or changes to your computer between the last time you uploaded photos and now, that information would also be helpful.
