When I try to play music from my ipod touch ( not through direct control), it gets stuck. I upgrade the firmware to the latest version - 42A10I, but the problem still exists.
Please, some one help!!!! My only other option is to return this, because, to me this is the most important feature I want in this.
Note: Its playing fine with Direct control

I have a similar issue with the NS-DPF8IP i bought today.
When I plug in my 3rd generation iPod touch 64GB (the previous generation, from before the iPhone 4 came out), it simply displays a grey animated "thinking" icon in the middle of the screen and does not do anything. I also updated the photo frame to the latest firmware, but it did not change this behavior. Please tell me how to use my iPod with this photo frame to view photos and play music.
My iPod is running iOS 4.0 and an iPhone 4 I plugged in briefly does not have the same issue - I was able to play music from the iPhone 4 out of the photo frame's speakers.
Thanks!

Hello all,
I received a response from our engineering team:
I
have confirmed that the latest firmware “DPF8IP-10-42A10I” works properly with
iPod Touch 3rd generation running iOS 4.1 in both iPod Music mode and iPod Direct
Control mode. The issues mentioned suggest a communication problem
between the frame and the iPod. My suggestion would be to make sure the
iPod 30-pin socket is clean and that the iPod is seated properly. It
would also help to adjust the ipod angle screw on the dock to make sure the
iPod is aligned properly to the connector.
a_khedekar: the connector may be the issue for your concern also, assuming
you have turned up the volume on the frame.
Please let us know your results!
Regards,
John

Thanks for quick reply. I will try the suggestion. Only thing I want to specifically mention is I m docking a Iphone 3GS NOT Ipod. Will this frame work for Iphone too ?
It charges the battery, plays video, music but no sound. That is the only issue.
Please let me know
Thanks

I took my case off my ipod touch and it started working correctly.
I like my case. So I will have to figure something else out.

Hello John,
I purchased this Frame with Ipod dock as gift for some, however when we put in the ipod 3g 8gb into the insignia dock, it does not even recognize it, charge the device at all...it ONLY recognizes the ipod if we put it in the dock and press back on it (so the little wheel in the back is useless as it bring the ipod forward) and push down on it VERY HARD. with the slightest movement the ipod gets disconnected from the frame. What is the solution here, basically the iPOD is loose and does not sit properly in the dock. It only displays, gathering infomartion/thinking icon on the screen but no music, video etc. Putting so much pressure on the iPOD will surely break it and is not practical as its supposed to be designed to recognize and charge it. Please help. Thanks

Hello Kaushal,
Welcome to Community@Insignia™!
I am very sorry about the delay on my answer! In regards to the inconvenience you are having in particular, it really seems to be an issue with the Ipod or Frame 30-pin connectors. In this case, I suggest you to verify both connectors are clean and no pin is damaged or crooked.
In any case, I advise you to take the DPF8IP to the place of purchase with the receipt and the Ipod. In this way, you could try your Ipod with a different unit to verify if it can be inserted to the docking station making just a slight pressure on it.
If it was useful, and you liked it, Kudo it!
Thank you,
Guille
