NS-DKEYRD10 staying on "Connecting.................."

I got this for Christmas.  Put about 40 pics on and then took them off and put new pics on to show a friend our new house.  When I hook up the USB cord to the keychain and computer, all I get is "connecting.............."  I thought maybe it needed to recharge, but it has been hooked up for over three hours and still says "connecting.........."  How can I get drivers for my computer to run this thing?

NS-DKEYRD 10 Software

I got this device several months ago, and it had worked without issue until today.  I realized I hadn't charged it in awhile, and when I attempted to do so, my computer can no longer find the device.  I was wondering if there was a place to download it.  No sure where it went and why my computer won't recognize the device.  I am running Windows 7 and IE 8, could this be the problem?  Thanks.

Re: NS-DKEYRD10 staying on "Connecting.................."

Hi morninlite,

Welcome to Community@Insignia™!

I have been doing some research about you particular issue and seem your computer is not properly loading the software included inside the Key chain to upload new pictures.

The software you need is inside the memory of the Key chain, so please do the next tests and let me know the results:

- Try different USB cords and always use a USB port directly to your computer (The ones on the back of the CPU are the best option).

- If the issue was not the USB cord or port, connect the Key chain to a USB port on the back of the CPU and go to "My Computer" or "Computer" (depending if is Windows XP or Vista / 7), right click on the Key chain's icon and then a click on "Open".

- Do a right click on the Imageviewer4 application and a left click on "Copy", then "Paste" the file in your desktop.

- Restart the computer with the Key chain connected to the USB port and when Windows restarts, run the Imageviewer4 from the desktop.

Please try this and keep posted about the results.

Re: NS-DKEYRD10 staying on "Connecting.................."

I plugged it into the back of my computer, and the ImageViewer4 popped right up!  Thanks.  I didn't think there was a difference in where the USB port was.

Re: NS-DKEYRD10 staying on "Connecting.................."

I am having the same problem with the connecting message that won't go away.

I am running Windows XP with all current updates.

I am using a USB cable that works with other devices (digital cameras, GPSs, memory sticks etc)

I have tried every USB port on the PC including the ones in the back.

Using Windows Explorer the keychain shows up as drive F.

When I right click on it and select "Open" the window is empty, no files of any type are listed.

I have cleaned out the Windows Prefetch directory and still get no results.

How do I get this device recognized by Windows?

Re: NS-DKEYRD10 staying on "Connecting.................."

Hi tdi2000,

Welcome to Community@Insignia™!

The “Connecting” status will always show while the device is connected to the PC or Mac (also charges at the same time).  During this time the “ImageViewer" software that is preloaded in the KeyChain will auto launch and allow you to view or update the images in the device.

You can also manually launch the ImageViewer by accessing the KeyChain internal drive following the instructions that were provided in this same thread before.

The last option would be to test the Keychain in another computer and with other Mini-USB to USB cable just in case the cord or some registry issue with the computer are interfering with the "ImageViewer" software.

If nothing works, please go the the place where you have purchased your NS-DKEYRD10 for service on this unit.

I am sorry but there is no more troubleshooting possible besides the already advised. Hope this helps!

Re: NS-DKEYRD10 staying on "Connecting.................."

The status connecting.... is displaying.

The Imageviewer software does not launch or at least does not appear on the screen..

The Task Manager Process screen lists PC_ImageViewer4.exe but it does not show on the Task Manager Applications screen. Since it does not appear in the Applications list it is not possible to highlight it and select "Switch To".

Windows Explorer shows the keychain as drive F. Right clicking on F and selecting Open results in an empty list.

Safely ejecting the device and plugging it back in produces the error message "Cannot find current TP6806 device".

A further safe removal and plugging back in produces the error message "ImageViewer4 already running".

With the keychaindisconnected from the PC it can be turned on and off and displays the images supplied from the factory.

Surely you can suggest a solution as the harware seems to be working and the ImageViewer appears in the process list in the Task Manager.

Re: NS-DKEYRD10 staying on "Connecting.................."

Hello tdi2000,

The error you are getting "Cannot find current TP6806 device", will translate to: the program TP6806 (aka ImageViewer) not being able find any device compatible with it. When   unplug the key chain and plugging it back in, the ImageViewer wants to start again but the previous instance of the program (the one running and looking for a compatible device) is still running as it surely is looking for a compatible device. The main issue is that this may be caused by a couple things, and the first couple that come up will be a bad USB cable or a problem with another program/device previously installed.

My best advise will be to try with another with another USB cable (really seems the way of solving this). Then, if you tried the cable to no avail, check with another computer with the same cable (to see if this is not related to that particular computer you are trying it at). Lastly there will be no much options left other to take it back to the Best Buy store so a technician can check on it, since the program and device are very simple on it's use and installation.

Thank you,
Gonza

Re: NS-DKEYRD10 staying on "Connecting.................."

Hello,

I have the same problems ...

What is the file that was installed in the PC after the first time of connecting the device to the USB port ?

I think maybe that file is corrupt. Is it possible to uninstall it and do a new first time connection ?

I would like to search for a driver or other files that refer to the device application but I don't know what names or description to look for.

On another PC with the same cable everything work OK.

Re: NS-DKEYRD10 staying on "Connecting.................."

Hello ag,

Welcome to Community@Insignia™!

In this case, if the Imageviewer file does not start automatically, please do the following:

1- Connect the keychain to the computer

2- If the software is still not loading, try different USB ports of the computer, if possible one at the back

3- If nothing happens, open MY COMPUTER and try to find the icon of the product

4- Make a right click on the icon and select an option that should say something like "open automatically"

5- If you are not able to do it, try double clicking its icon on the USB drive icon folder and running the .EXE application.

If it was useful, and you liked it, Kudo it!

Thank you,
