NS-DCC5HB09 Battery, will ANY NP60 above 1050mh work?

I just won this camcorder from ebay with everything but the HDMI cable for $21.50 shipped. It is working fine, but I would like to grab an extra battery or 2 & a charger. I see that a TON of cameras - camcorders take the NP60, and some listings have the exact same specs for diffrent items!

So will any NP60 work?

And as a side note, I have read a ton of past posts and a majority of gripping has to do with this camera not chatging from the USB port....get over it! Smiley Very Happy Plug it in & have fun, jeez....Smiley Wink

I'm sorry but that don't answer the question...it seems like that is the norm for this forum, so I am glad I only paid $21.50 for the camcorder!

As soon as I verify that a NP60 will work I will post back for all the folks wanting an answer.....

Hello again JJudge,

I consulted our Product Support team about your question and was informed that we cannot guarantee that every NP60 battery will work.  Our recommendation is that you purchase from the vendor at the previously provided link.

Re: NS-DCC5HB09 Battery, will ANY NP60 above 1050mh work?

I'm having trouble charging my camcorder. The red light stays solid (not flashing) but even while plugged in it won't turn on. (have tried taking out battery, waiting a minute or two, then putting it back in - no change) How can I be sure it is a replacement battery I need? The camera hasn't been used for about 6 months so I don't think it is still under warranty but before that it worked great.

Thanks for your help!

How are you trying to charge it? This camcorder will not charge thru the USB port, you have to use the charger that came with it.

According from the posts on here (a search will turn up a lot of info) you MUST use a certain charger for this camcorder.

I'll see if I can find it. I've been using the charger with the USB port. I tried another charger that fit, but turns out it wasn't the right one. Will that have caused damage to it?

Re: NS-DCC5HB09 Battery, will ANY NP60 above 1050mh work?

When I say that it will not charge thru the USB port, I mean that just plugging it into a USB port on your computer will not charge it, you need to use the charger that came with it, and it does plug into the USB port...sorry for any confusion I have caused!

With that said, I have read on here that the charger that comes with it is 4.2volts, not the standard 5volt. And if you use one of a different voltage that it will not charge....a search will bring up more info on this....

Re: NS-DCC5HB09 Battery, will ANY NP60 above 1050mh work?

OK folks, as promised here is my battery report...

I went to eBay and typed in "INSIGNIA NS-DCC5HB09 Battery" and got 100's of hits. The lowest priced seller was atcsupplyusa, but that is not the only reason I went with them. They carried both the batteries & the charger, so I felt that I would get a "matching" set that worked together.

I ordered 2 batteries & a charger from them...total cost $17.44 shipped, and the order got here in 2 days. It was an easy & smooth transaction overall, and I would recommend this seller!

Now, the batteries that arrived has the following printed on them....

NP-60, 3.7V, 1200 mAh Li-ion

The model numbers off the boxes are...

Battery - 301-00065-01

Charger - 303-00026-01

The charger came with a lighter socket plug so you can charge the batteries on the go, but I have not tried this out yet.

They dropped right into the camcorder & it took off, no problems. So I decided to fully charge the batteries to see how long they lasted. It took a little less than 4 hours to charge each one. I then placed the Original battery in the charger and it took a little less than 3 hours to fully charge it.

I placed the new batteries in the camcorder, set it for HD & aimed it at the sky thru a window, and let it roll until the battery ran out. Total time 1 hour 37min for both of the new ones (this is judge by how much footage was shot). The Original battery only gave me 1 hour 12 min, so this is a pretty good increase in time!

So, for less than $20 you can have 2 spare batteries & a charge to go with the camcorder. This is well worth it to me because charging the battery in the camcorder itself made the screen/view finder mess up, getting washed out & flickering like a bad TV screen.

I am happy with this camcorder, and it another one comes up for sale at a reasonable price I will grab it also.

I hope this info helps out some folks.Smiley Wink
