Menu options not available per the Setup Guide

We purchased a NS-DSC10 digital camera for our daughters birthday. The setup guide shows several options available under each of the icons, i.e. Camera menu options are : Quality, Resolution, ISO, Color balance, Stabilizer. Likewise with the other menus.

The camera on the other hand does not, i.e under the Camera menu the only option available is "Quality"., under the Tools menu, the only option is "Erase pictures".

I can't even format a card?

If these menu optins are not available, then I will return the camera because of "product not as advertised".

thanks,

Basil

Re: Menu options not available per the Setup Guide

Hello bdwouza,

Welcome to Community@Insignia™!

The first time you turn on the camera, it is in "Simple Mode."  To turn this off and have the full range of menu options, turn the unit on, press the Record button and then the Menu button to open the on screen menus.  Highlight Setup, then select Off under Simple Mode.  More details can be found in the owner's manual, page 5.

Re: driver software

Can the driver software be obtained/downloded for this unit/model? Thanks.

Re: driver software

Hello pnbimaging,

Welcome to Community@ Insignia™!

The drivers should be preinstalled in the computer your connecting the camera to. Those drivers will allow the computer to recognize the camera as a storage device, and import the photos and videos from the camera to the computer.

In terms of any photo editing software, that is not available except for when included with new devices due to licensing restrictions.

Re: driver software

Perhaps my issue is related to the cable (I am using a generic cable). Is there a specific cable for this unit. All USB cables are not created equal as I'm sure you may know. Message says "USB not recognised". Camera off or on still not recog. Thanks.

Note: lost cable.

Re: driver software

BTW, I'm pretty techno-saavy and tried several computers with same results. Thanks.

Re: driver software

Hello pnbimaging,

Thank you for responding!

Do you get the same "USB not recognized" when the cord is plugged into the computer, whether the camera is connected or not?
