is this camcorder compatible woth Windows 7....or can software be downloaded that will make it compatible?   My son also has a Mac, purchased 3 years ago...I don't know the specs on it, but is this camcorder compatible with most Macs?

This camcorder is Mac and PC compatible (Microsoft® Windows® XP, Windows Vista®, Windows 7 or Mac OS 10.x or higher) and comes with an installation disk of software for both platforms. For best results, Mac users should set the recording format to MOV. I hope this helps.
