Hello othertrucker200,

You can find the driver and other helpful downloads for your camcorder here, under the Support tab.  I hope this helps.

Re: Help.

Thanks John, but this did not work. It is the same as what I have. I must click on un-install to install and visa versa. Only problem is when I click un-install to install, it will not install immediately.  It will sometimes wait 2-3-4 minutes then pop up on the screen. After installing, the camera will still not connect thru the camera wizard as before. The CP "sees" it as a disc drive, which makes it difficult and time consuming to transfer my videos to my CP. Have you seen this before or am I dealing with a wacked out CP?

Re: Help.

Hello othertrucker200,

Have you installed any new software, Windows updates, or otherwise made any changes between now and the last time that you used the camcorder?  Sometimes the installation of new software or components will change which programs are (or are not) launched when hardware such as the camcorder are connected to the computer.  If you have, knowing what was added and which version of Windows you're running may help us address this problem for you.

Regards,
John

Re: Help.

Everything is the same as before. No new updates, no new software. It worked fine one day and the very next day......BOOM....it will not connect thru the camera wizard any more. Strange as it sounds, as I go thru the device manager trying to find the problem, sometimes i get a message that there are no drivers installed for this. Other times I get a message that says this device is working properly and that the current driver is up to date. I am lost to say the least. I am running Windows XP Home Edition.

Thanks

Re: Help.

Hello again othertrucker200,

I consulted our technical team and they are unable to offer a reason why you would be experiencing these issues.  They have assured me that your camcorder will be accessible on your computer as a Mass Storage device, but don't have an explanation for why the Wizard will no longer launch.  It was suggested that you might try another USB port, preferably one on the back of your computer to test for a different result.

The drivers on the InsigniaProducts.com product page are codecs for audio playback; the device actually uses generic drivers provided in Windows.

I apologize that we don't have a resolution for this unusual issue, but I hope the information provided helps.

Sincerely,
John

Re: Help.

I have tried other ports but did not make any progress. I think I have it narrowed to a faulty USB cord. Sometimes it will connect thru the wizard and sometimes it just shows up as a Mass Storage Device. Either way I can download my movies, it just takes an extra step or two as a MSD. If your techs come up with anything new please post it here. Thanks.

Re: Help.

John. I think I have solved my problem with the camera wizaerd not connecting my camera. You must have at least ONE still picture on the camera before the camera will connect thru the camera wizard. If you have all video and no picture, you will have to access the camera thru My Computer as a Mass Storage Device. With ONE still picture on the camera, it will transfer both videos and picture thru the camera wizard. I am a bit ashamed to tell it but I have had the camera since October 08 and just now found this out.
