I just recently bought an almost brand new insignia camcorder off ebay. it came with the HDMI cable, USB cable and A/V Cable. I tried charging it by connecting it to my pc via USB but it doesn't seem to charge, even though the battery heats up. I was told that when it is charging the red light is flashing, but mine stays solid, when it is clearly not charged. Can anyone help me please? ( And no the battery is not upside down or anything )

Does the battery indicator on the LCD show that the battery is charged?  It's likely that the battery will need to be replaced if all signs point to it being charged and the camcorder will still not power from the battery.  Parts and accessories for your camcorder can be purchased here.  I hope this helps.

The LCD will only go on for 2 seconds when i connect it to the A/C adapter and the USB displaying the green Insignia screen and then shuts off and the screen goes blank.

You MUST use the power cable included with the Insignia Camera, it will not charged connecting it by USB Cable to the Computer.  ...and when I say the power cable that came with the camera I do mean that cable and not a similair cable with a USB end (ie like a cell phone cable), it may light up but it ain't charging unless it is insignia's power cable!

Im having the exact same problem. I lost my charger and tried to charge using various other chargers and had no luck. I bought a replacement charger for model NS-DCC5HB09 and attempted to charge it last night. When I charge it the red light stays on and after blinking 2 to 3 times. When the LCD screen displays the green background that insignia  it only lasts for a split second. I am using the correct charger now, so why can't I charge the camcorder?

In order to charge your camcorder, first ensure that the unit is turned off. The record/power light will blink while charging. Charging is complete when the light is solid. You may use the camcorder while it is plugged in but it will not charge if in use. If the battery doesn't charge, you may need to try a new battery.

I have the ANSWER to the charging problem for the INSIGNIA NS-DCC5HB09. I called Insignia and neither they, nor the tech department, nor the other company they referred me to could answer my question. Instead, they gave me incorrect info. BUT, I figured it out on my own. This camera uses a 3.7 volt battery which in turn, requires a 4.2 volt charger. Most USB wall chargers and computers use a 5 volt output. This camera/battery will NOT accept a 5 v charger, only a 4.2 v charger.  You need to use the charger or adapter that came with the camera. If you don’t have it, then you can buy one online on ebay or a few other sites if you do a search. Make sure it is 4.2 v output. If this does not work for you, then you might have a bad battery or camera. There is a site that sells Insignia OEM parts and they say they have the OEM charger. It's the charger. I had very similar problems; charger light turns on, camera makes a startup noise when plugged in, camera doesn't turn on even though plugged-in, etc. I was using a standard USB charger. Once I found the original charger, the camera started up normally and was able to begin charging the battery.

      Sir. Insignia Camcorder owner, I don't understan why you would use USB port 2.0 connection from your Computer to "Charge your Camcorder".  I always charge ALL my camcorder Lithium-Ion (Li-ion batteries.) through the supplied AC to DC Adapter and Charger.  I do NOT know why you would use a USB 2.0 port which has much lower Mili-Volts and MiniAmperes and Watts of Electronic U.S.B. 2.0 power, but you might correct me if you find this not to "solve" your problem.  Incompatibilities in Electronic Specifications results when you are attaching to U.S.B. 2.0 ports on your Computer than its proper AC to DC Apapter Charger to charge your Li-Ion batteries!!!...

      Your Camcorder comes prepared to Charge your Li-ion Battery with supplied Charger from your 120/240 VAC Charger from Wall Outlet NOT your U.S.B. 2.0 Computer.  There exists FULL incapabilities in both Voltage & Amperage between Mili-Volts aand Mili-Amperes U.S.B. 2.0 ports and 120 VAC/240VAC Wall Outlet Electricity to Electronics supplied Charger for your Charger.  So, Please use your AC to DC Adaptor Charger from your Household Current.  Until INSIGNIA can get you either a "Cigerrette Battery Charger or Specific U.S.B. 2.0 Charger, this issue will require such an updated Charger". So , just use your 110-120 Voltage House/Apartment AC Curren to DC Charger for your Lithium Ion Batteries at present!!!! 

P.S.=  I have also PANASONIC, PV-11-K VHS-C & PANASONIC MINI-DV & PANASONIC HD-HS-100 Video Cameras Digital Hard Drive & 32Gigabyte SDHC card Camcorders.  ALL THE CHARGERS USE HOUSE 120/240 VAC to DC output Currents.  Even the expansive Pro Cameras $1,000++++ Video Dedicated Cameras use 120/240 VAC North America, South America, Europe & Asia Alternating Currents to D.C. Chargers.  I don't understand what Compatiblity U.S.B. 2.0 ports have with Charging any Li-ION or Nickel-Cadmium or Nickel Metal Hybrid NiMH Rechargealble batteries are NEVER charged with U.S.B. 2.0 ports but only with 110-120/220-240VAC House/Apartment Currents to DC Charger congergence to your Li-ION batteries!!!!....
