Copying pictures to computer (NS-DSC1110A)

Greetings,

My files are corrupt on myInsignia 10 Megipixel camera.

I believe I did this while attempting to remove / delete files while attached to my computer.

Can this be reset or fixed to save the camera?

Thank You.

Mike

Re: Copying pictures to computer (10 MP NS-DSC10B)

Hello Mike,

Welcome to Community@Insignia™!

Since your post was to a thread over three years old, I have started a new one with your question. I have a few questions for you to acquire more information about the problem:

  • Please confirm you camera model number?
  • When you say that files are corrupt on your camera, do you mean photographs and videos, or some other files?
  • What files were you attempting to move or delete?
  • Were you using a Mac or PC? What was the brand, model number, and OS version of the computer?
  • What specific problem have you encountered in using the camera?

The more information you can provided about the issue, the better the assistance we can offer.

Regards,
John

Re: Copying pictures to computer (10 MP NS-DSC10B)

Greetings John and Thank You.

1)

Model:

Insignia NS-DSC1110A 10MP Digital Point & Shoot Camera

Insignia NS-DSC1110A 10MP Digital Point & Shoot

2) All files and directory names are now Asian type Symbols.

JPG files are gone. There are no video files

The english names are all gone.

3) I was attempting to move the JPG files to my C: drive

I did not use the copy and delete option with the camera photo utility.

4) I was using a Toshiba Laptop Satellite M45-S165

5) Camera no longer saves any pictures.  Mechanically, the Camera works; however, software is  now a problem.

The file folder names have all changes.

It appears the language is no longer english.

I really like this camera... It is really cool... I really messed it up.

Perhaps I remove a key file or folder by mistake.

Again, Thank You.

Mike.

Re: Copying pictures to computer (10 MP NS-DSC10B)

Hello again Mike,

Pleas try resetting the Menu language. I recommend downloading the User Manual for visual assistance with the process:

First, ensure that the camera is not in simple mode (page 8): turn the camera on and, in photo or video mode, press MENU. Use the arrow keys to select the icon of a person with camera.  Set Simple Mode to OFF (the first option).

Next, reset the camera to factory defaults (page 22): enter the on screen menu as above and select the wrench/hammer icon. Select FACTORY RESET (the last option), then Yes, then press MENU. Turn off the camera. When you power it on again, you should be prompted to select the MENU language. Let us know your results!

Regards,
John

Re: Copying pictures to computer (10 MP NS-DSC10B)

First John,

Thanks A Bunch.

I followed your instructions and the camera now takes and saves pictures again.

I had to also erase all files on the camera SD using the Erase Pictures option.

This cleaned up all of the strange file names and folders.

I was able to locate and save some jpg files before the Big Erase Pictures.

My Insignia camera has been revived / Restored.

Again, Thank You Very Much.

Mikeview.
