I purchased an NS DV111080F HD camcorder 2 days ago. It will not consistently power on. When a charged battery is inserted it powers on properly by either opening the LCD or pushing the power button. However nearly everytime I close the LCD door or press the power button to power down it will not power on again by either opening the LCD door or pressing the power button.
The battery must be removed, then re-inserted and then it will power on once again. This process is necessary most of the time to have the camera on.

Since your purchase is so recent, I recommend that you return with the unit to the place of purchase and have the technicians examine it or exchange it for a properly functioning unit.

I am hoping a solution has been found since that post was responded to. I live in Canada and purchased the camera on Ebay U.S. on Jan 22, 2011, with a 7 day return. It is brand new. It sure would be great if there is a solution that I can manage.

I presume that you've experienced the same issue as the original poster as you've posted no additional details. The behavior originally described is not how the camcorder should function. If you would care to provide details about your experience, including verification of the model number of your camcorder, we can look into it for you. However, given the limited time of your return window, you may wish to pursue returning the camcorder to the seller instead.

my "return window" is over, and was before I had a real chance to get to know the new camcorder. It is the same model (NS-dv111080f) I believe, and will sometimes turn on correctly, but mostly does not. I popped the battery thinking that it might kick-start it like sometimes is recommended for cell phones. I do have the 1.09 firmware and was looking for a solution here when I saw the same issue. Can you please do a bit of research to find out if there is a solution I can manage myself.

I think the best way to go here will be to start by installing again the firmware (to be sure this is not software related).

OK..I did the firmware update, and it is working now. Go figure! It was shipped with firmware version 1.09. By installing the version 1.06 you provided it fixed the problem. This is MUCH better than having to send it back. Thank you, it was an easy fix.

Sorry. On to a new issue. I returned the camera for the power-on problem and it was replaced. Now I am able to use it, I find the sound volume through playback on the camcorder, and on my computer is almost inaudible. When I scanned for a like problem, I found some threads but no resolution, just advice to return it and buy something else??!!
Please tell me there is a fix. At this point my only option is a warranty return for a fix, and if it is a design problem, it will not be fixed and if replaced, the odds of sound improvement seem to be non-existant. So, back to the question...is there a fix?
